Celebrating Sally Lofink
July 20, 1945 - November 15, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sally Lofink, who passed away peacefully from autoimmune liver disease on Saturday, November 15, 2025, in Long Grove, Illinois, surrounded by her loving family. Her presence will be forever missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Life Well Lived
Sally was born on July 20, 1945, in Columbus, Ohio, to Dorothy (Fissel) and Kenneth Poole. Sally grew up with two sisters and one brother, and her family remained at the center of her world throughout her life. She is survived by her sister, Sharon Rusk, who shared many cherished memories, laughter, and milestones with her over the years.
With a warm smile and an easy laugh, Sally had a remarkable gift for making people feel instantly at home. Whether meeting someone for the first time or spending time with lifelong friends, her upbeat nature and friendly spirit lit up every room she entered. She had a quick wit, a playful sense of humor, and a deep love of competition—especially when it came to cards and games. Sally nurtured a welcoming home filled with laughter, warmth, and spirited game nights. Never one to shy away from the spotlight, she once won a car on Card Sharks, and she was the driving force behind getting the family onto Family Feud, a proud and
much-loved family story.
Sally met the love of her life, George Lofink, while working in Columbus, and they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. She was a devoted mother of four children, Jim, Tim, Cherie, and Amanda, and a beloved mother-in-law to all of their spouses. She was preceded in death by her eldest son, Jim, in 2018, whose memory remained close to her heart. Sally was also the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren,
each a source of immeasurable joy.
Sally lived in many places over the years—Columbus, Ohio; Little Rock, Arkansas; Libertyville, Illinois; Laguna Niguel, California; and Las Vegas, Nevada—before returning to Illinois. No matter where she went, she created a community. Sally thrived as a MOPS Mentor at Canyon Ridge Christian Church in Las Vegas, where she guided and supported young mothers.
Sally's memory will be held in many hearts. She will be deeply missed. Please join us in celebrating the loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and beloved friend, Sally Lofink.
